Hi SLIX Members

Our 2x100G links from Google AS15169 to SLIX are now live. This link connects SLIX to the Google backbone, and to our GCP Region in Salt Lake City us-west3. We are peering and announcing/accepting routes from the route server. We welcome and encourage you to request public peering with us on both IPs. Each 100G link is on a separate Google device for redundancy purposes.

Public peering with Google is encouraged as we do not announce all prefixes to our route server, only summary routes. We do however announce all Google prefixes on our direct IX peering sessions. When you peer with us you also will be able to obtain access to the Google ISP Portal where you can manage your traffic, view your network's YouTube performance, among other features.

There are two ways to request public peering.

1. If you already have access to the Google ISP Portal please visit tickets --> request new IX interconnection and submit your details on your ASN and IP.

2. If you do not have access to the ISP Portal please visit isp.google.com/iwantpeering . On the form select Peering --> IX Peering and select Salt Lake City from the dropdown (to be made available later today). In the comments section please notate that you are part of SLIX.

While we have paused IX peering due to IRR validation we will be reviewing IX requests on a case by case basis for approval since we are changing ASNs. Please send me a direct message should you have any specific questions, concerns on your request or if your request informs about IRR requirements.

Thanks,
Dave

Google AS15169 is currently peering with both route-servers. If you are already peering with the route-servers, you will see their advertised routes immediately. If you would like to peer with the route-servers and currently are not, please contact info@slix.net, as access is not open by default.
